CHARLOTTE, N.C. — According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, 718 cases of cyclosporiasis have been identified in the state as of July 28. Megan Day is being treated for the parasite and says she was surprised by her diagnosis.
“I am an otherwise healthy adult. I’m active; every day I’m doing something. And I eat pretty healthily too, so I was surprised when I was diagnosed with this. And in a way, I wasn’t surprised because it was potentially my healthy diet that made me sick,” she said.
Her main symptoms were vomiting, diarrhea and body aches, some she’s still feeling almost three weeks later…
