Matheson Road closure for pedestrian upgrades to last much longer than planned

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A road project that’s blocked a major corridor for NoDa drivers will take almost twice as long as anticipated.

Most of Matheson Avenue has been closed since July 27 to turn four vehicle lanes to two, and make it more pedestrian-friendly for the fast-growing urban neighborhood.

It was initially slated to be completed by Halloween, but city officials revealed recently that it now plans to be closed through the winter holidays, with a Dec. 31 end date.
