Singer-Songwriter Mary English creates new Gamecock anthem

“I’d wear that team jersey two sizes too big; Dad told me that one day I’d love ‘em like he did.”

That line from singer-songwriter and two-time USC alum Mary English’s “Under a Carolina Sky” are more than poetry: they’re also autobiography. Long before Mary English was writing and performing her own songs for crowds of Gamecocks, she was one of them.

Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, English came from a University of South Carolina family. Both of her parents attended USC, and trips to Columbia and Gamecock games were part of her childhood…
