Man intentionally sets northwest Charlotte house on fire after “communicating threats” towards his parents: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man intentionally set his mother’s house on fire after communicating threats, according to a report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Around 6 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to conduct a welfare check on a woman’s son who lives on the 500 block of Porter Street in northwest Charlotte. According to CMPD, the woman said her son was “communicating threats of violence towards her and the residence she owns that her son lives in.”

The man then intentionally set the residence on fire, officials said. According to the Charlotte Fire Department, it took 30 firefighters about 10 minutes to control the blaze.

No one was injured during the incident; however, police said that the man was removed from the residence and transported to a local hospital for evaluation…
