A new South End steakhouse and a swoon-worthy salad are tempting Charlotte

Charlotte’s dining scene is absolutely stacked right now — think skyline-view steakhouse, globally inspired tacos, an under-the-radar salad and a fall doughnut you’ll want to grab before it disappears.

🥩 A Michelin-recommended steakhouse opens soon in South End

If you’ve been waiting for a new special occasion restaurant, mark your calendar. Guard and Grace — the Michelin-recommended steakhouse with locations in Denver and Houston — is opening its third spot right here in Charlotte’s South End. And yes, the views are as good as you’re hoping. 🌆

The restaurant is landing on the 10th floor of Vivian at Queensbridge Collective, which means uptown skyline sight lines from the patio. Chef Troy Guard is behind the concept, and he’s promising playful food with international flair alongside the prime cuts you’d expect from a steakhouse of this caliber.

CharlotteFive’s Heidi Finley got an early look this spring, and the menu previews alone are enough to start planning a date night. A few things catching our eye:

  • Prime strip loin served with crunchy potato and Maui onion soubise 🥩
  • Oak grilled octopus with white beans, Spanish chorizo and red pepper coulis 🐙
  • Triple chocolate chip cookies for dessert (obviously) 🍪

The cocktail program looks equally dialed in. The Uptown Cabaret Margarita is the one to Instagram — because of course a drink named after a former adult venue is going to be a conversation starter at the table. 🍸…
