In March 2001, 21-year-old Cesar Gudino Gonzalez was fatally shot in the head during an armed robbery in Charlotte, N.C., that left two other men suffering from gunshot wounds.
The case went cold for 25 years until detectives in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Cold Case Unit received a lab report implicating Alan Marquis Phifer, 43, according to a release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
