Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant faces uncertain future as longtime west Charlotte landmark

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — For 26 years, Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant has been a familiar sight along Interstate 85 in west Charlotte, serving generations of customers who say the family-owned business has become much more than a place to grab a meal.

Now, the future of the longtime restaurant is uncertain after the property was sold last year as part of a larger real estate transaction.

Miguel’s owner, Miguel Morado, said the property and several adjacent parcels were sold last summer. He said he has been told a hotel could eventually be built on the site, though for now, the restaurant remains open.
