A Charlotte, North Carolina, woman arrived from the Dominican Republic at age 14 knowing no English. Since then, she’s built a general contracting business from the ground up.

It’s not your typical commute to work — driving on the tarmac at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. It’s how Ada Esther Gil Jimenez gets to Concourse D for her contracting work.
“Very grateful, very thankful for the opportunity because I know not everybody is able to experience something like this,” she said.
