NC drivers say goodbye to registration stickers and paper cards starting Oct. 1

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A familiar part of the annual vehicle renewal process is going away starting on Thursday.

Beginning Oct. 1, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is ending license plate renewal stickers and automatically mailed paper registration cards as the state moves to digital vehicle registration.

Drivers will still have to renew their registrations, pay required fees and taxes, maintain insurance, and complete inspections.
