A man died and a woman was hurt in a Ballantyne crash Tuesday morning, according to MEDIC.
It happened just after 7 a.m. on Rea Road at Southbrook Drive. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers found a Toyota Camry with damage to the driver’s side and an Audio Q5 with front-end damage.
Investigators said the driver of the Camry, 96-year-old Robert James Freedman, died at the scene. The woman driving the Audi was taken to the hospital. Her injuries weren’t serious, MEDIC said.

CMPD closed a portion of Rea Road due to the collision.
According to CMPD, Freedman was driving on Southbrook Drive when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by the Audi that was driving on Rea Road.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and neither are believed to have been impaired.
