Human remains found in Lowell backyard identified as missing man: Police

LOWELL, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man who was reported missing in late 2020 has been identified as the deceased person found Friday, according to the Gaston County Police Department.

Officials said that Sammie Bruce “Chip” Davis, who would have turned 54 in May, was the person whose remains were found behind a home on South Church Street in Lowell. He was living at the home when he went missing.

On Friday, January 19, 2024, authorities began digging on the property and revealed that they had found human remains. It is unclear what prompted the search.

The family who currently rents the property are not connected to the investigation and say they just moved in last month .

Officials said that two people who previously lived at the home, 55-year-old Kenneth Johnson Junior and 55-year-old Robin Rae Adair, are both facing charges for concealing a death.
