CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A 32-year-old Charlotte man accused of raping a woman in her home will stay in jail for now. A judge ruled no bond would be issued for Santerius Allen after police say they caught him in the act of sexually assaulting the victim.

Allen will remain in the Mecklenburg County jail facing several charges, including kidnapping and rape, after police say he attacked a stranger in her south Charlotte home.

Brave child calls 911 as Charlotte mother sexually assaulted by convicted felon: CMPD

“He used a blunt object to obtain entry to smash in the window out of the back,” Major Jonathan Thomas from Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said. “He was not armed with a firearm or anything like that.”

Police say Allen bit the victim’s wrist and arms as she fought back, leaving her with injuries that included possible broken ribs.

“This is very rare for us to catch a violent offender like this in the act on the scene,” Thomas said.

When Queen City News returned to the neighborhood where the attack happened, a CMPD officer was seen patrolling the area. Police say a teenager called 911 to report the assault, and police arrived within six minutes while Allen was still in the home.
