MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A Huntersville man bought a scratch-off on a whim while visiting a north Charlotte grocery store this week and ended up cashing in big time, North Carolina Lottery officials announced on Friday.
“I walked in for chicken and walked out with lobster,” Huntersville resident Kevin Prast laughed. “Not a bad day.”
Prast, who says he is planning to use the winnings on a tropical vacation, claimed his $100,000 prize Friday and will take home $71,514 after taxes. “You hear about this but you don’t ever think it’s going to happen to you.”
The ticket was purchased at the Food Lion on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.
