Panthers have a streak going that is quite embarrassing for owner David Tepper

The Carolina Panthers have landed on their new head coach and the hope is that he can develop QB Bryce Young into being the player they believe that they drafted at No. 1 overall.

Dave Canales could be the guy for the job, after all, he did help Baker Mayfield turn his career around with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023. Weirdly enough though, the Panthers are going to be paying multiple head coaches next season.

Currently, the Panthers have three head coaches under contract. Matt Rhule is set through 2026, while Frank Reich will be paid through the same time in 2026. Canales’ first contract with the Panthers is through 2029.

Just like Rhule, the Panthers opted to give Canales a six-year contract to be the head coach. Such contracts are not given to first-time head coaches like Canales often for obvious reasons. Canales may end up being great for the Panthers, but they’re locked into paying for over a half-decade even if he falls on his face 15 games into his first season.
