Repeat larceny offender with 65 grams of drugs arrested in Uptown: CMPD

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — An arrest has been made in Uptown on a suspect involved with several auto larcenies, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On Jan. 19, officers saw a suspect vehicle that matched a description from several auto larceny cases and conducted a traffic stop on the 300 block of E. 4th Street.

The driver, 24-year-old Kyahjay Kirkpatrick, was positively identified as the repeat larceny offender, officials said. After searching his vehicle, officers found a stolen firearm, 65 grams of marijuana and a bottle of codeine.

Kirkpatrick was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Carrying a concealed firearm
  • Drug possession with intent to distribute

CMPD also arrested a passenger who had unserved warrants. They were arrested for assault on a female.
