Video shows CATS bus driver shot in neck and shoulder by stray bullet, still no arrests made

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — CATS has released video of a December 2023 shooting near one of its transit bus routes which injured a bus driver.

The footage includes seven-minute clips from four different camera angles from inside and outside the CATS bus on Route 3, just north of LaSalle Street.

According to law enforcement, the CATS bus and the driver were not the intended target, but rather innocent bystanders caught in the middle of another situation.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said that individuals in two vehicles unrelated to the bus were engaged in conflict when a stray bullet was fired into the CATS bus.

These two vehicles were captured by the front-facing camera and were several yards away from the bus.

Video shows one of the vehicles driving around the other before multiple shots were heard.

One of those traveled through the front window of the CATS bus, and hit the bus driver in the lower part of his neck/upper part of his shoulder.
