A 38-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck near Bessemer City Saturday, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.
Daniel Evan Garrison of Philadelphia Church Road north of Dallas was driving on Oates Road when, shortly after 1:20 a.m., he veered off the right side of the road at a curve, struck a power pole guy wire, drove through a fence, and then hit a tree, Sgt. Joel Williams said.
At the time of the wreck, Garrison was driving around 80 mph in a 45 mph zone and was not wearing a seatbelt, Williams said.
He was killed on impact.
