The Carolinas’ are swelling with pride lately as several local chefs and restaurants have been named semifinalists for the prestigious James Beard Awards. The James Beard Foundation created the James Beard Awards to celebrate and highlight exceptional talent in culinary arts, hospitality and media. This year, two Black-owned restaurants are also celebrating the possibility of a win.
