Woman breaks into North Carolina apartment, sets fire to unit, documents say

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A woman is facing several charges after authorities said she broke into an apartment in northeast Charlotte and intentionally set the place on fire.

Shelaine Davis is charged with felony first-degree arson and felony breaking and entering.

The fire happened on Sunday, Jan. 28, at an apartment located along Orchard Trace Lane.

According to court records, Davis “Unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did maliciously burn the dwelling house inhabited by [ name of tenant ] and located at 417 Orchard Tree Lane.”

At the time of the fire, a man was home inside the apartment, court documents state.

Medic confirmed no injuries were reported. Davis was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail on Friday, Feb. 9, where she still is being held at this time.
