GASTON COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Gastonia mother, her son, and another man were involved in a methamphetamine drug trafficking ring, federal authorities announced.
According to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, the two men involved, identified as Bret Scott Funderburk, 34, and Eric Eugene Allen, 42, both of Gastonia, were sentenced after pleading guilty to several charges including distribution of methamphetamine.
Funderburk was sentenced to 15 years, while Allen was sentenced to 10 years. Authorities said Funderburk’s mother, identified as Melanie Mitchum Funderburk, 55, of Gastonia, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including distribution of methamphetamine.
She is awaiting sentencing at this time, authorities said.
