One Panthers vet is on a bubble that is set to burst heading into training camp

When the Carolina Panthers signed veteran running back Miles Sanders during the 2023 offseason, he was supposed to be the lead running back. And then he failed to produce.

Due to injuries and a lack of production, Sanders was usurped as the Panthers’ lead running back by Chuba Hubbard, who enjoyed a breakout season amid a down year for Carolina.

Now, with training camp approaching, Sanders sits on the bubble. Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport believes he is the fourth most likely player to get cut at the start of training camp.

“When the Panthers gave Miles Sanders $25.4 million over four seasons last year to serve as Carolina’s lead back, no one really batted an eye,” Davenport writes . “After that calamitous 2023 campaign, the 27-year-old now appears no higher than third on the depth chart in the Panthers backfield.

“Releasing him wouldn’t offer much in the way of cap relief, but with touches looking few and far between for Sanders, the Panthers may decide to just rip off the band-aid and be done with it.”
