Brief cooldown coming to the Carolinas with Sunday afternoon showers

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good evening and happy Saturday! It was a toasty day across the Carolinas with even hotter weather on the way for Sunday. But we are also tracking a cold front for Sunday that will bring some needed wet weather to the Carolinas along with a brief cooldown as we head into next week.

Out in the tropics we are tracking Beryl which is now a hurricane and is forecast to become a major hurricane by Monday as it moves in the Caribbean Sea.

As for tonight and Sunday, any showers this evening will fade as we head deeper into the evening and overnight hours. Sunday will start off sunny, but showers and storms will flare up during the afternoon as a cold front moves into the region. Heat Advisories are in effect for Sunday ahead of the front with highs in the mid-90s and ‘feels-like’ temperatures pushing up to around 105 degrees. As the storms move through there is some potential for isolated severe weather with strong and damaging winds being the primary concern.

The wet weather will clear out by Monday morning with a two-day cooldown behind for the Carolinas. Highs on Monday and Tuesday will be in the upper 80s to around 90 along with noticeably lower humidity during the afternoon hours. But just as soon as it gets comfortable temperatures will start to move back up Wednesday and by the 4 th we’re back in the mid-90s. Next weekend potentially looks even hotter with temperatures pushing up towards 100 degrees.
