5 vehicles seized with 2 arrests, 20 citations issued in large Charlotte street takeover event

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — On Wednesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced the arrests of two people and 20 citations issued as part of a large street takeover event.

Authorities said on Aug. 31, 2024, officers responded to multiple locations across Charlotte as part of their street takeover event and discovered six locations throughout the night.

CMPD said two people were arrested, 20 citations were issued, and five vehicles and two firearms were seized at these takeover locations.

During one event in particular, CMPD said a spectator was struck by a vehicle and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

CMPD said the vehicle, which had been involved in a takeover at Arrowood and I-77, erupted in flames and was left abandoned nearby.
