Charlotte museum giving 100% of proceeds to help western NC artists

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — In an effort to support artists living in western North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene, The Mint Museum will be donating 100 percent of admission proceeds to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF).

The initiative runs Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Oct. 10 at the art museum with locations uptown and on Randolph Road. The Mint boasts one of the largest collections in the Southeast.

For more than 40 years, CERF has been a vital resource for craft artists, offering emergency relief and building educational tools to help artists navigate crises and rebuild. The organization ensures that artists have the support they need in the wake of disasters.

The region was devastated by historic flooding, leaving many communities isolated without access to roads, power and cell service since last Friday.

Additionally, Mint organizers are actively coordinating with local arts organizations and artists to identify opportunities for displaced artists to continue their work in Charlotte’s studios and creative spaces. Asheville is known as a haven for visual artists and other creatives.
