East Charlotte house fire caused by electrical malfunction; leads to $97K in losses

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An east Charlotte fire that broke out Friday afternoon was deemed accidental.

The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 6500 block of Piney Path Road around 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25. Firefighters controlled the scene in 18 minutes, and there were no reported injuries to civilians or crews. However, It caused approximately $97,000 in damages.

CFD investigators determined the fire was set accidentally. It was reportedly due to an unspecified electrical malfunction in an exterior access laundry room.
