Toy drive headed to WNC for kids impacted by Helene

BELMONT, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A trailer full of toys is heading to western North Carolina for children impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Workout group F3 Gastonia met at Stowe Park in Belmont on Saturday morning and hiked the three-mile round trip to Walmart to get thousands of dollars in toys for children in the mountains for the holidays.

The group put on the event in memory of three Gaston County kids- Jackson Curti and Jackson Hall who died of cancer and Park Vasquez who passed away in a tragic accident.

The next stop for the toys is Spruce Pine, where parents will be able to have a place to come and pick out gifts for their children. 64 people participated in Saturday’s drive and filled a 25-foot trailer about halfway up with toys.
