Man accused of killing someone by running him over on Brookshire Blvd had bond reduction denied

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A judge denied a reduced bond for the man accused of killing a man found dead after a crash on Brookshire Boulevard.

From the March 22 incident, 27-year-old Divee Cunningham has been charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

That day, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers were called to Brookshire Boulevard for a personal injury call. When they arrived, they found a man later identified as David McNeil, dead at the scene.

Investigators initially thought 44-year-old McNeil had been hit and killed by a vehicle. But they later discovered the man had injuries that were not consistent with the crash.

CMPD said McNeil was “mortally wounded” before collapsing in the street and then had been run over a short time later.
