1 dead, 4 hurt after multi-vehicle crash involving pedestrians in York County, troopers say

YORK COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and four others hurt after a crash involving pedestrians in York County, officials say.

On Saturday, South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to SC Highway 5 near Estate Drive around 8:34 p.m. in reference to a crash.

Officials say a disabled 2025 Honda Ridgeline and a 2017 Jeep Cherokee were stopped on Highway 5 southbound while a 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling south. Two pedestrians were standing in the median when the 2015 Nissan Altima collided with the Honda. The Honda then struck the Jeep, causing it to overturn and strike the two pedestrians.

The driver of the Jeep and the two occupants in the Nissan were injured and transported by EMS to a local hospital. Both pedestrians were also injured and transported to the hospital.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, one of the pedestrians succumbed to their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol. No additional details on the pedestrian have been released at this time.
