2 people, 3 cats dead after east Charlotte apartment fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Two people and three cats are dead after an apartment fire Wednesday morning in east Charlotte. According to the Charlotte Fire Department, firefighters were called to an apartment complex on Spanish Quarter Circle just after 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, they saw no visible signs of smoke or fire from the outside of the building. However, they noticed a strong odor of smoke, which prompted an investigation.
