CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The gusty winds and much colder air will continue to settle across the Carolinas for the start of the New Year. Some colder, drier air will settle across the Charlotte metro tonight into the weekend. Tonight will be breezy and cold with lows in the 30s and 40s. In the mountains, expect gusty winds along with a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow. Lows will drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s and winds will gust up to 50 miles per hour.
