Police: 1 dead, 4 hurt after crash involving CATS bus in east Charlotte

One person is dead and four others are hurt after a crash involving a Charlotte Area Transit System bus Wednesday morning, police said.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it happened in the 5600 block of Central Avenue in east Charlotte just before 8:30 a.m.

MEDIC confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people with life-threatening injuries were transported to Presbyterian, MEDIC said, and two others with minor injuries were taken to Atrium Health CMC Mercy.
