Parent alleges CMS teacher used excessive force against child, causing cuts and bruises

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A mother of a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools student is demanding action, claiming a teacher abused her 7-year-old son inside the classroom at Tuckaseegee Elementary School. She claims the teacher restrained her son, leaving scratches and bruises on his face and arms.

Bianca Perry states that her son, Carter, has ADHD and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). She explains that while her son was having a difficult moment in his IEP classroom, the teacher stepped in. Although restraint is allowed under CMS’s code of conduct, she believes the teacher went too far.
