Crash unfolds along Independence Boulevard in southeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A crash involving at least two cars unfolded in southeast Charlotte Saturday night near a shopping center.

A member of the WCNC Charlotte news team reported around 9:40 p.m. that it happened along East Independence Boulevard near Sardis Road North, right by the Chili’s restaurant and businesses at the Crown Point Plaza. One of the cars involved appears to have been overturned onto its roof based on photos sent in from the scene.

As of publication, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not shared details about what may have led up to the crash. Medic told WCNC Charlotte two patients were taken to a hospital from the scene with serious injuries…
