Fort Mill man arrested after Monroe police say a routine traffic stop evolved to them recovering stolen cars worth $1.25M from his business

MONROE, N.C. — A South Carolina man who was pulled over for speeding in Monroe on Tuesday is now accused of stealing seven different cars, with the combined value of the vehicles estimated to be more than a million dollars.

The Monroe Police Department said an officer pulled over 56-year-old Stef Willi Huewe of Fort Mill over along West Franklin Street around 7 a.m. During the traffic stop, the officer was able to determine the car Huewe was driving had been stolen from Orlando, Florida in 2021. He was arrested then for possessing a stolen motor vehicle, displaying a fictitious registration plate, speeding and felony chop shop activity.

However, those wouldn’t be the only charges he would face. Officers said they learned during the investigation that Huewe owns All PRO Fleet & Auto Services in Stanly County. Monroe Police then contact special agents with the North Carolina License and Theft Bureau and the National Insurance Crime Bureau for assistance…
