Alleged drug deal in north Charlotte ends in murder; arrest made: Documents

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with an alleged drug deal that turned into a deadly shooting in north Charlotte.

On February 20, 2025, just after 9 p.m., CMPD officers responded to a shooting on Lucena Street, near North Graham . They found Rashaad Joshua Sinclair, 27, fatally shot inside a vehicle. Police initially reported the location as Olando Street, but later corrected it to Lucena.

According to court documents, Sinclair was meeting a woman, known to law enforcement, for a drug transaction when the situation reportedly escalated. The woman told police they were approached by two men, who reportedly pulled guns on Sinclair and shot him after demanding his belongings. They then fled the scene with Sinclair’s bag, containing drugs and money.
