WINGATE, N.C. (WBTV) – A Charlotte-area college was placed on lockdown for about two hours Monday night after a student reportedly saw a person carrying a gun.
The lockdown was initiated just before 10:45 p.m. at Wingate University, and was not lifted until 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The university’s alert system said police were looking for two men who had on face coverings and dark-colored hoodies. About an hour after the lockdown was ordered, an alert said there had been no reports of any shots fired. A similar alert was sent out around midnight, and 40 minutes later, the lockdown was lifted after police said there was “no longer a threat.”…
