WAXHAW, N.C. — One person died in a Monday morning house fire in Waxhaw.
Just before 10 a.m., the fire started inside a home in the 5500 block of Whispering Hollow Road, which is located between Cane Creek Park and the South Carolina state line. Emergency crews from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson and Waxhaw Volunteer Fire Departments, and Union County Fire Marshal’s Office arrived.
An elderly resident was found dead inside the home, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Another person managed to escape by climbing out of a window and was taken to a local hospital. That person is expected to recover from their injuries, according to officials…
