15-year-old arrested after running into woods with AK-47 in Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A 15-year-old has been charged after allegedly stealing a vehicle and being found with an AK-47, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On April 8, officers responded to a call about a stolen Chevrolet Silverado. The driver was driving erratically and tried to flee from the police, officials said.

The vehicle was being tracked by the CMPD and OnStar when it struck another vehicle, at which point OnStar activated the kill switch on the vehicle.

The vehicle came to a stop, and the 15-year-old exited the vehicle with an AK-47 before running into the woods. CMPD said the suspect eventually returned from the woods without the weapon…
