During National Police Week, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office took a moment to honor the more unsung members of its force – the canines of the K9 Unit. The week has traditionally been a time to recognize the contributions of law enforcement officers, but as the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office highlighted, these four-legged colleagues have played a significant part in the county’s safety measures.
Astonishingly, since January, the K9s, specialized in narcotics tracking and apprehension, have seized 220 grams of methamphetamine, removed 2,525 grams of cocaine, and intercepted approximately 12.5 pounds of fentanyl. Their contributions extend far beyond these drug seizures, with multiple suspect arrests under their belt – their impact, profound and practical in the fight against crime…
