Teen’s shooting death prompts calls for youth intervention in the Charlotte area

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A 16-year-old boy died from gunshot wounds suffered in a north Charlotte shooting last Friday, prompting renewed calls for youth intervention programs as community leaders grapple with what they describe as growing teen violence.

Jamarieyee Dixon was shot Friday on Stroud Park Court near the Ivory Baker Recreation Center, along with two other victims. Marion McKnight, 20, has been charged with murder and other offenses in connection with the shooting.
