Charlotte’s AAUP writes letter condemning UNC Charlotte’s dismissal of Janique Sanders

UNC Charlotte’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) have authored a letter condemning the University’s dismissal of the assistant director of UNC Charlotte’s Leadership & Community Engagement Office (LCE), Janique Sanders. Sanders’ dismissal comes after she was seen on video discussing alleged methods used to bypass limits on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies.

The video, published by Accuracy in Media, featured Sanders speaking to an undercover journalist on the DEI-related work on campus. Sanders stated that while the policy has hindered their ability to complete DEI-related work, the University continues with projects that are DEI-related and has “rearranged” DEI positions and wording to make them compliant with the policy.

“The word of the year is finesse,” says Sanders in the video. “I’m really dedicated to making sure our students feel loved and supported; I could care less about what you call my office.”…
