CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Michael Barnette, the man charged in connection with a home explosion in Dilworth last month, is no longer in the custody of Illinois deputies and is being extradited to Mecklenburg County, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Barnette was arrested in Chicago on May 10 as a fugitive of justice out of North Carolina. The Charlotte Fire Department said Barnette was in the process of being extradited to North Carolina.
Cook County officials told WCNC Charlotte that Barnette was in Mecklenburg County custody, but his name hasn’t appeared in the court system as of Thursday morning…
