Thousands lose power in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands of Duke Energy customers were without power in south Charlotte Thursday morning after fallen trees and limbs damaged power lines.

Duke Energy reported about 4,000 customers lost power due to tree-related damage to power lines and other infrastructure.

The largest outage happened along Carmel Road, where 2,676 customers had been without power since 8:05 a.m. Duke Energy restored power will be restored by 2:25 p.m. as crews worked to clear debris and repair damaged equipment…
