CORNELIUS, NC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An incident is under investigation in Cornelius after a woman reportedly discovered a dog left alone in a parking lot, and broke into the vehicle to help.
According to the Cornelius Police Department, officers responded on June 7 to a parking lot off West Catawba Avenue at 2:18 p.m. regarding a dog in a car. The officer arrived at 2:26 p.m.

The caller reportedly told police she observed the dog in the truck for 5 to 10 minutes while the owner was inside the Wendy’s nearby, and subsequently opened one of the doors. Video shows the dog vigorously dinking water provided by the woman.
Charlotte Douglas International reported a 91 high that day, recorded at approximately 3 p.m. It was the first 90-degree day of the season.
