Mecklenburg County is gearing up to observe Juneteenth with a range of closures on Thursday as detailed in a recent announcement. The holiday will see the shuttering of several county offices and services, including those offered by the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Community Resources, various Community Resource Centers, and the Public Health and Elections Office. Additionally, the Tax Office, Register of Deeds, and Land Use and Environmental Services Agency Offices will also be closed in recognition of Juneteenth.
Those planning to venture outside should note that Mecklenburg County Solid Waste Centers will not be operational on the holiday. However, park enthusiasts can breathe easy as Parks and Nature Preserves will remain open for their leisure. The closures do extend to All Recreation and Senior Centers and Nature Centers, which will shut their doors for the day. If you’re looking to beat the heat, keep in mind that Seasonal Pools, Spraygrounds and Beach hours will vary on the holiday.
