CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a cell phone store owner in 2019, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
On Tuesday, a jury found Tyrone Miller guilty of first-degree murder, common law robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On the morning of Jan. 14, 2019, surveillance video shows Miller entering a cell phone repair store on North Sharon Amity Road with his sweatshirt hood up to hide his identity. He then pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and told the victim, 29-year-old Elchin Khalilov, to close his eyes before shooting him in the neck from a close distance.
According to documents, Khalilov directed Miller to where the money was while begging for help. “I’m dead,” Khalilov reportedly said while Miller told him not to move. Miller took two backpacks with a large amount of cash, a flash drive, Khalilov’s journal, and multiple cellphones before fleeing the scene, leaving the man to die…
