CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte area hotel is officially closing its doors due to growing public safety threats, including drug activity, gun violence, and ongoing security concerns in and around the property, according to those who manage the building.
The closure, announced Tuesday by Cedric Dean, founder and CEO of the HELP Program, follows several months of escalating danger despite alleged efforts to tighten security and collaborate with law enforcement at The Baymont Hotel on Equipment Drive. Recently, tragedy struck when a woman and a one-year-old boy were found dead in one of the hotel rooms.

“We have always envisioned The Baymont as a safe and welcoming space for visitors and a respectful neighbor to this community,” Dean said in a written statement on Tuesday.
Dean said the situation became unmanageable, even after implementing guest screenings and working closely with police. He claims he was blocked from removing known drug dealers from the property and believes some are now actively working against him…
