A 34-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for the 2019 killing of an Azerbaijani immigrant who was shot during a robbery at his east Charlotte cellphone store.
Elchin Khalilov, 29, was working in his FixEr Electronics store on the morning of January 14, 2019, when a robber came in and shot him. The store, formerly located on N. Sharon Amity Road, repaired and sold cellphones.
