Char-Meck FOP concerned about Matthews Police shortage

MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Matthews Police Department has been facing a “critical staffing shortage.”

Char-Meck Fraternal Order of Police President Daniel Redford said it was in May when he learned non-patrol officers like investigators and other units were being scheduled to work overtime. The move was intended to combat MPD’s personnel shortages.

“There would be no additional compensation despite the additional hardship placed on the officers who would be put on these schedules,” he said.
