CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — More than 40 officers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol teamed up to seize five high-end cars worth over $1.5 million and arrest five people in connection with illegal street racing.
On Friday, June 27, CMPD said they teamed up with SCHP in an operation to take on illegal street racing across the Queen City. Thanks to planning and surveillance, authorities said they identified multiple vehicles violating North Carolina’s street racing laws.

By the end of the night, five high-end cars, worth more than $1.5 million in total, were seized. Among them were a 2023 Lamborghini Huracan, a 2023 Audi R8, a 2022 Lamborghini Huracan, a 2021 Ford Mustang, and a 2017 BMW 340XI. According to CMPD, three of these vehicles are tied to national groups known for illegal street racing activity.
Police arrested Thomas Esposito, 33; Kassey Howeth, 44; and Kathrina Kava, 35; in connection with the operation. Two others, Michael Johnson Jr., 23, and Alexander Zavaleta, 25, received citations for their involvement, according to CMPD…
